My Media Matters LLC ("we", "us", "our"), operator of The Pantry Butler (the "Service"), respects the intellectual-property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. This Copyright & DMCA Policy explains how we respond to claims of copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512. It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service.
How this applies to recipes
A recipe's ingredient list and its functional steps are facts and instructions, which are not owned by anyone. A creator's original photographs and written stories, however, belong to them. We credit the original source wherever we know it, and we handle the parts that do belong to a creator as follows.
Photographs. When you save a recipe from a link, we may fetch the source's thumbnail image and store a copy so that you can see it on your own recipe. That copy is marked as captured, and a captured image is never shown to anyone but you — it is withheld from Discover, from creator collection pages, and from any shared or public link. The only photographs we display publicly are ones a person added themselves, or ones a creator has given us permission to feature through our creator-partner program. If you are a creator and would prefer we not cache your images at all, write to us and we will remove them and exclude your domain going forward.
Written descriptions. We do not reproduce a creator's written story or caption on any public page. When our system cannot turn a post into a structured recipe, it may keep the original text in the private notes field of that person's own recipe so they can finish it by hand. Those notes are not published, not shown in Discover, and not included on shared links.
Reporting copyright infringement (Takedown Notice)
If you believe material on the Service infringes a copyright you own or control, send a written notice to our Designated Agent (below) that includes all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail (a URL or clear description) for us to locate it.
- Your contact information — name, mailing address, telephone number, and email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

What we do with a valid notice
Upon receiving a complete and valid notice, we will act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the material in question, and we will make a reasonable effort to notify the user who provided it.
Counter-notification
If your material was removed or disabled and you believe this was the result of mistake or misidentification, you may send a written counter-notification to our Designated Agent that includes all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before it was removed.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, mailing address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Federal District Court for the district in which your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original notice or their agent.
If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the removed material in 10 to 14 business days unless the original complainant first notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the allegedly infringing activity.
Repeat infringers
It is our policy, in appropriate circumstances, to disable or terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
A word of caution — misrepresentation
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed or disabled by mistake, may be liable for damages — including costs and attorneys' fees. Please be sure of your rights before submitting a notice or counter-notice.
