The Pantry Butler

Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

Welcome to The Pantry Butler ("The Pantry Butler", "we", "us", "our"), a product of My Media Matters LLC ("My Media Matters"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and My Media Matters LLC governing your use of the website and app at thepantrybutler.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who can use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old (and old enough to form a binding contract where you live) to use the Service. If you use it on behalf of a household or family, you're responsible for the activity of members you invite.

2. Your account

We use passwordless sign-in: you request a one-time link sent to your email. Keep access to your email secure — anyone who can open the link can access your account. You're responsible for the activity under your account. Tell us at hello@thepantrybutler.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

3. Free and Premium plans

The Service offers a free plan with usage limits and a paid Premium plan that removes those limits and unlocks additional features (such as an unlimited recipe library, unlimited Olive AI requests, and the shared Family Pantry). Current features and limits are described on our pricing page and may change over time.

4. Billing, renewal & cancellation

Premium is an auto-renewable subscription offered on a monthly or annual basis at the prices shown at the point of purchase (currently US $5.99/month or US $49.99/year, or your locked-in Founding price if applicable). Depending on where you subscribe, billing is handled by the Apple App Store, Google Play, or our web payment processor Stripe.

Auto-renewal. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each period (each month or year) at the then-current price for that plan, and your payment method is charged at the start of each new period, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. We will give you notice before any renewal at a new (non-Founding) price.

How to cancel. You can cancel anytime; your Premium access then continues until the end of the paid period:

Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are also subject to that store's terms and refund policies. Other refunds are handled under our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which is part of these Terms. We may change prices for future periods; Founding prices remain locked as described at purchase.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the recipes, photos, notes, and other content you add ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate the Service for you and any household members you share it with. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you upload, and for not uploading content that infringes someone else's rights or violates the law.

Your saved recipes are private personal notes. When you save a recipe, it is stored as your own private note — visible only to you and any household members you choose to share it with. We do not maintain a public library of user-saved recipes, and we do not publish or share your saved recipes with the public or with other users you haven't invited.

Recipes you save from others. When a recipe originated with someone else, we may record an attribution (for example, "Saved from [creator]") so you remember where it came from. A recipe's ingredient list and method are facts and instructions, which aren't owned by anyone — but a creator's original photographs and written stories belong to them. The photos and notes shown on your recipes are the ones you add yourself. We do not copy a third party's photographs or written descriptions onto a public page unless that creator has given us permission to feature them (see our creator-partner program).

6. Sharing within a household

When you share a recipe with your Family Pantry or invite members, those members can view (and, where enabled, save) what you've shared. Only share content you're comfortable letting those members see. You can stop sharing or remove members at any time.

7. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the Service. In particular, don't: break the law; upload malicious code; scrape or overload the Service; attempt to access other users' data; resell the Service; or upload hateful, harassing, or illegal content. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Olive & AI features

The Service includes AI features ("Olive") that generate recipe ideas, suggestions, and answers. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. Always use your own judgment. Olive is not a substitute for professional nutrition, dietary, allergy, or medical advice.

Dietary filters (such as "Veg-forward" or "Light on salt") and any nutrition estimates are automated approximations based on which ingredients appear in a recipe — not a nutritional analysis, not nutritional or health claims, and not medical or dietary advice. We do not measure sodium or nutrient content. If you have a medical condition or specific dietary needs, rely on a qualified professional and verified product information, not these estimates.

9. Food safety — please read

The Service helps you save and organize recipes, including home canning and preserving. Improper canning, preserving, cooking, storage, or handling of food can cause serious illness (including botulism) or injury. Recipes and AI suggestions are provided for general information only and are not guaranteed to be safe, tested, or accurate. You are solely responsible for following trusted, tested food-safety guidance (such as the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning or your local extension service), for checking ingredients against your own allergies and dietary needs, and for preparing and storing food safely. We are not liable for any illness, injury, or loss resulting from recipes, canning, or food prepared using the Service.

10. Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. See our Affiliate Disclosure. We are a participant in the Amazon Associates Program.

11. Intellectual property & copyright

The Service — including the name "The Pantry Butler", the "Olive" character and mascot, our logos, design, and software — belongs to us and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms don't give you any right to use our brand or marks without our permission.

Respecting creators. We credit original recipe sources, and we only feature a creator's photographs, name, or written content on a public collection page with that creator's permission — for example, through our creator-partner program. We do not scrape or bulk-import third-party photos or written recipe stories.

Copyright concerns & takedown. We respect the intellectual property of others and respond to valid notices under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, email our copyright agent at copyright@thepantrybutler.com with: (1) your contact information; (2) identification of the copyrighted work; (3) the location (URL or description) of the material you're concerned about; (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law; (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf; and (6) your physical or electronic signature. We will review promptly and remove or disable material where appropriate.

Designated agent. Copyright notices should be directed to our designated agent to receive notifications of claimed infringement, who is also registered with the U.S. Copyright Office:
Copyright Agent, My Media Matters LLC
319 E. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601, USA
copyright@thepantrybutler.com
It is our policy, in appropriate circumstances, to disable or terminate accounts of users who are repeat infringers. For the full process — including how to submit a counter-notification — see our Copyright & DMCA Policy.

12. Third-party services

We rely on third parties to run the Service, including Cloudflare (hosting, database & email routing), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Anthropic (AI), and Meta and Google (analytics & advertising, which you can opt out of). Your use of the Service may be subject to their terms, and we aren't responsible for their services. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling and your choices.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content (including AI output and recipes) is accurate or safe.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we (and My Media Matters) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

15. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless My Media Matters LLC and its owners, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, demands, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) Your Content; (b) your use or misuse of the Service; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or of the rights of any third party.

16. Dispute resolution & arbitration

Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights, including how disputes are resolved.

Informal resolution first. If you have a dispute with us, you agree to first email us at hello@thepantrybutler.com and give us 60 days to try to resolve it informally before starting a formal proceeding.

Binding individual arbitration. If we can't resolve a dispute informally, you and we agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court — except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court. This agreement is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.

Class-action waiver. You and we agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any class proceeding.

Your right to opt out. You may opt out of this "Dispute resolution & arbitration" section within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing hello@thepantrybutler.com with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and the email address on your account. Opting out will not affect any other part of these Terms.

If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular dispute, then this entire arbitration section will not apply to that dispute; the rest of this section is severable and remains in effect.

17. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. You can export or delete Your Content before closing your account.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

19. Governing law

Except for the "Dispute resolution & arbitration" section above (which is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act), these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. To the extent any dispute proceeds in court rather than arbitration, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Oklahoma, except where local consumer-protection law gives you other rights.
